They lasted until the child outgrew them which I can't say about other companies. I don't like school uniforms in general, but if he has to wear one, we'll get some last, right? These are the last ones. I would say order a size up but the sizes are a bit crazy. I had no problem ordering for my child who wears the smaller size everywhere. Just ordered a size larger. Lasted all year. I would say size XL would be about small for male (large = very small for adult male). The child is taller than me but weighs 10 pounds less! I keep teasing him that with all his summer clothing purchases, I'm going to buy shirts for the future! They did their job and survived the wash just fine. I'll get the (big) ones again in the fall. I think you have to do something special with them to break them. The child says they are fine. Good weight for warm or cool weather. I'm not sure how true that is, but he insisted on short sleeves all winter in Louisiana.
