Review on 🎨 Ultimate 1.5oz Tulip One-Step Tie-Dye Kits with 5 Colors by Amanda Castillo

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Got me addicted to tie diving!

I love this set! It was very easy to use and a lot of fun. After the first set I bought a few more to practice my art and share with friends at tie-dye parties. After going through 3 complete kits (and making a few mistakes) I can give you a few tips to maximize your success: Wondering which kit to buy? If you only get 1 I would recommend "Carousel" as it has the darkest colors and gives the "lightest" results. If you get 2 sets, "Carousel" plus "Rainbow" will give you 10 different colors, so it's your best choice if you make your own shirts. Unfortunately, you can only get orange if you buy Luau or Neon sets. For some reason, 5 bottle sets per gram of dye are the cheapest (cheaper than refill sets that don't even have bottles). Wait for them to go on sale, Revain's price varies wildly from one week to the next. Can you really get 30 shirts from a set? Yes. But they are not 30 adult 2XL. And you need to plan ahead - use all the colors in the set, dilute some of the colors and collect the drips in a bowl for reuse. I usually dye adult and children's shirts half together and end up with 30 pieces from a complete set. Can you dilute the colors? Yes, some are very diluted. Some of the most beautiful things I've made are serial dilutions of a single color. These colors tolerate dilution very well: black, purple, turquoise. These colors allow moderate dilution: blue, fuchsia, purple, light green, royal blue. These colors do not dilute well (don't try to dilute them): red, orange, yellow, turquoise. I make dilutions in jars and use a plastic funnel to return the color to the bottle. The best coloring technique. Put the tip of the bottle in contact with the shirt before squeezing it. Place the lace between the pleats. After you think you're done, check between the folds to make sure you don't see any white; When you do this, go back and paint the inside of the creases. After wrapping in cling film, pinch the piece - this will also reduce the excess white. The paint should not drip off the product or soil the gloves - if it does, you are using too much paint. product refinement. The instructions on the kit say you have to wait a few hours for the paint to dry. That's not a good idea. If you wait just a few hours you will lose most of the color down the drain and will be shocked at how light and faded your piece looks. It's far better to use the basic principles of chemistry to your advantage: remember that time and concentration will speed up a reaction, so wait as long as possible and then lay it out to dry without washing. I wait a week, then put the pieces out on the lawn to dry in the sun. After that, I run the entire batch through the wash cycle (until the water runs clear) about 6-8 times, then line dry, and then wash on the regular wash cycle (with soap). This way the finished product will be almost as dark as when dyed. And you can skip the hand rinse you see in many youtube newbie videos, it's too painful and no use. Be creative and have fun! There are some very good YouTube videos that teach you how to do this, just search and you will find them.
