Well equipped for walking and driving, great sound

Due to a damaged headphone jack on my smartphone, I was unable to listen to music while walking and driving. This tiny FiiO device was a throwback to the days when I used small digital audio players, before smartphones had good sound quality. The M5 brought me back to music on the go every day, and a damaged smartphone might not be replaced for a couple of years. Everything I use requires playing Ogg and M4A files and sometimes FLAC and MP3. Sometimes a wired output, sometimes a Bluetooth output. Sound quality is important to me, probably an artifact of my father whose last job was retailing audio equipment (1980s). This M5 fits the bill. Bluetooth pairing and subsequent selection worked well. Very good playback quality with a good track and good headphones or Bluetooth playback through your home audio system. an interface that's responsive and simple (especially given the size). Well, if one charge lasts for a week. It meets all the criteria. For in-car use during 100-400 mile drives in a car with poor Bluetooth implementation (seems to re-pair every time the car is started) it needs to be charged while playing. and play well through the headphone jack. This ticks all the boxes again. Oddly, the only thing I don't like about it is that others see it as a plus. I have many USB A to Micro B cables used with phones, cameras, flashlights, Adafruit MCUs, and other electronics. I carry a short cable and large battery for extra charging of various devices, or use the cable with a handy computer, extension cord, or car USB port. The M5 has a USB-C connector, for which you just need to use another USB cable. That's why I'm complaining to the USB standards group about backward compatibility of cables. FiiO voted for future compatibility of its chargers, not past compatibility. I'll live with the extra cable as every other aspect of the M5 is great for my use. Highly recommended for mobile audio.
