Do not feed this to your dog! This can lead to heart disease in your dog!

I have been feeding my dog this food for many years (this is an updated recipe but it is similar to the previous one). She is 9 years old and now has a heart defect with an enlarged heart. The FDA links grain-free diets to heart disease in dogs. I believe peas, sweet potatoes, chickpeas and tapioca are the cause. The only thing I noticed about her on this diet is that she pooped a lot. She pooped more than ate. It was healthy stool, but too much. I believe that all that fiber was actually depriving her body of important nutrients and leading to heart disease. The cutest dog in the world and the fact that she now pants and faints from time to time is awful. Do not feed your dog this food. The sad reality is that there really is no good food to feed your dog. They either have all those starches and fiber, or they have toxic, crappy ingredients, or they add ingredients like spinach, kale, and other veggies that contain oxalates. I've started cooking her food and I suggest you do the same. I take tubes of raw meat from a primal pet, then add 23% by weight of their daily diet to vegetables, fruits, and seeds that I know to be safe. So 77% meat, organs and bones and 23% vegetables, seeds and fruits.

Pros
  • Dry
Cons
  • Slightly torn
