Enough magnification to check the quality of a slide or to see what's on the negative strip. (Don't buy this program thinking it's big enough for slideshows.) Aside from the brightness and sharpness of the image, this viewer is just "mmm" and a little disappointing considering the price and Kodak. Brand. It arrived with some dust in the viewer and after a bit of use it quickly picked up more. It's not a big deal as I only use it to see what's on the slide or negative. However, what is very important is how many times the slides get stuck in the viewer and how many times I end up trying to shake them out etc. It's quite annoying. And this is done with slides that are in excellent shape (not bent or deformed in any way). If you have a lot of slides to review, you might want to look at something else.
