Review on Proraso Refresh Shaving Soap Bowl - 5.2 Oz by Jenn Hartman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I bought Williams, Proraso, Taylor Sandalwood and Mitchell. Gave all 4 but they all shave differently

I bought Williams shaving soap which is Taylor soap, Mitchell Sheep Fat shaving soap, Proaraso shaving soap in a green plastic container and gave all 4. The Willaims was super cheap and works better than good and cleans great. If you don't have sensitive skin, it works great. I have sensitive skin. Taylor soap smells incredibly like sandalwood. I would only buy it because of the smell to put in the bath tub and soak with water from time to time. It's a less soft/close shave than a Mitchell or Proraso but a closer shave than a Williams and the smell is amazing. You put real things in it. It doesn't make my skin as comfortable as Mitchell or Proraso soaps. The Mitchell Wool Fat soap was the smoothest on my skin and left my hair the softest. It doesn't lather that thick, but I didn't find it a problem hitting myself with the brush when needed. My skin was as comfortable as possible after use - the visible irritation and burning sensation I feel after shaving disappears the quickest with this soap. The Proraso soap was the least irritating when shaving, but I believe it has something like peppermint oil to discolor the skin a bit. The Proraso soap was the most comfortable to use, probably because it contains a small amount of peppermint oil (which I can smell) and dries the skin a bit. It left my skin almost as intact as Mitchell's and shaved with less burning. Proraso is cheaper but less dense and seems to consume more when shaving. I suspect it will end up being the same cost as Taylor and Mitchell. I seem to use Mitchell the most as it has a gentle shave, but when my face is already a little on fire I use Proraso as the mint calms everything down. I love the smell of Taylor soap and use it when my face isn't burning. Oddly enough, I use Williams soap as a bath soap. It cleans better than the bath soap I buy at the store and costs about the same. If my skin wasn't sensitive I would use Williams. Much cheaper and I've been using it as a shaving soap for years.
