Review on Tello CP PT 00000252 01 Quadcopter Drone by Amber Anderson

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Tello is a very good toy drone for beginners because it can hover in the air.

Tello is a very good toy drone for beginners as it can hover in one spot on its own (in good light) Pros - light and manoeuvrable, decent 5MP camera that takes good pictures and videos (for the money, that's actually the best thing) fairly easy to control with a cellphone fairly durable (dropped a few times onto concrete from about 10ft with no real damage to props/body, just leave the protective covers on); Cons - too light (You can't fly it in any wind above 5mph. Tried, it flies away. lol) Wi-Fi connection is erratic and range is limited. Updates are hard to install when it gets dark problem because then it can't hang alone in one spot and hard to land. The biggest advantage of the drone is its camera, I like using it indoors. Just know its limitations and you won't be disappointed. Update: I recently got a Xiaomi Wi-Fi Range Extender for Tello and it increases the range by quite a bit! Before connecting Xiaomi I watched a few tutorial videos on YouTube and luckily there are also some useful instructions on the box itself (after creating an account you can easily change the region e.g. USA, China etc.). so it's better to just play). around and see which region is right for you). Second update: It's been a while since I got it and Tello still flies well. Another thing to consider is that the prices of drones like DJI Spark and Yuneec Breeze (you can get them for as little as $99 as they are nearing the end of their life cycle) are steadily falling in price as new players enter the entry-level drone market (like Xiaomi) you can save a little more and just buy a Spark or similar drone.

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • High price
