not very strong for a fly swatter
We live in a high spot fly area (google it). We carry fly swatters with us on our daily walks to eradicate these invasive bugs. I thought a retractable arm would be nice because I could fold it up and not be as visible when walking around town. 3 fly swatters fell apart in the handle area after about a week and could not be reassembled. Unfortunately, what I thought was a great idea didn't work for us.
