Bought for the new iPad we got for our six year old. If this applies to you in any way, then the first priority is not to break it if baby drops it (and it will). I would say at least 10-15 drops and no scratches. Another perk that drew me in are the stands, which allow the iPad to stand on its own and they work great. The icing on the cake is the integrated handle and shoulder strap. The cover slips open very easily, unlike some I've had, but that may be because it's not super tight. Despite this, we haven't had any problems landing so far. Happy with this purchase and I think you will be too.
