I've been using an Asus 1080 24 inch monitor for years and decided I needed a better (big) screen for those old eyes. I've been a computer guy for decades (because the job dictated it) and now that I'm retired I wanted to go back to my Apple roots, as I'm already in an Apple environment with my phone, so I'd have to give it a try as the new opportunity MacBook Air M2 came out this summer and took the plunge, but quickly realized that Apple controls screen resolutions. significantly different than Microsoft. After a lot of research and some testing on 4K screens, I found that Apple initially upscales/downscales in the 100/200 dpi range (that's how they get "Retina" quality on their screens. So if you have a 4K monitor plugging it in improves quality However, letting Apple "customize the resolution" can take up a lot of GPU CPU bandwidth and, depending on what type of work you're doing, can affect performance. It must be stressed that 1440p monitors are a good compromise as they natively scale to the 100dpi range (you can find formulas online to check) but if you move to a larger screen the benefit of the higher resolution is lost as the bigger screen this compensates the transition from 1080p quality to 1440p which gives you pretty much the same dpi or a bigger screen so I have more space but the quality is no better than the old monitor, and always n Also noticeably worse than the MacBook screen - although perfectly usable, even for streaming. Referring to previous comments, I didn't notice any "wobble effect" of the monitor stand. It's as solid as any monitor I've had since they went flat panel. Adjusting in the monitor area is also easy/simple, with a small "joystick" input device at the bottom/middle of the monitor instead of the traditional 4-button arrangement found on monitors. For the retail price I got this for, I'm happy with the monitor, although I'm not happy. I couldn't find a better and more affordable solution to Apple's inherent resolution problem, but it will with any 1440p 27-inch monitor. so it's not a "thing" for this particular LG product. At the higher price some comparable monitors have sold for, I would return them.
