Review on πŸŽ›οΈ Xtrempro Phono Equalizer Preamp Audio Turntable - Black Aluminum Panel (65001) for Enhanced SEO by Justin Quinones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

For a cheap m/mm/c preamp it works surprisingly well, and many much more expensive units lack m/c pickups.

I've tried a competitor's preamp that claims to work with a pickup, but I don't think it will. It could transmit an m/c signal, but the sound quality was very poor. As a result I took this preamp from Extreme and it has a special m/c pickup circuit. To my surprise, not only did this unit transmit the correct m/c signal (not a bad sound with my m/c cartridge), but when using another player its m/m circuitry had better sound quality than the first preamp, that I tried. I dug up an old m/m turntable to compare a/b/c between two preamps and an old 2 channel receiver with m/mm/c support in all required modes. When I tested the Xtrem Audio HTI (by ear) it sounded a lot like an old receiver with a built in switch for each type of pickup. When swapping out the preamps via an aux channel with an m/m cassette player, the Pyle preamp (my first purchase) couldn't (cleanly) reach the level that the Xtrem HTI does. Using an m/c cassette player (which I usually use) with my current receiver the Pyle was terrible compared to the Xtrem m/c circuit.
