Instead, I suggest: use a drill, insert it into the tip, and roll the drill between your fingers to drill through the small piece of plastic covering the tip. This small opening is often sufficient for many purposes. If not, use a very sharp knife (not scissors) and a kitchen cutting board to trim the tip to a larger size. Make sure the cut is sharp or you won't get consistent results the next time you apply the oil.
