Took longer than I thought to assemble; but this makes it more stable and easier to store when disassembled. Many of these toys have latches that are very difficult to undo. I want the drain to be on the sand side so it can either be drained or used with water. Sand and water are mixed immediately by children, and it would be useful to drain the water from the side of the sand. You can use a bucket to collect some sand from the water drain if needed. It holds about 3 pounds of sand and I bought a 50 pound bag from Home Depot which is the only size of play sand they have. I'm thinking of mixing something with cornstarch to make kinetic sand.
