You (probably) saved my marriage!

As I get older, my eyesight deteriorates. I first became aware of this a few years ago when I was holding my wife and realizing I could barely make out the shape of the small dots in her brown/brown eyes. In fact, I pushed her away a bit to focus on her. This was NOT appreciated. I was accused of not loving my wife and not only wanting to push her away physically, but she thought I was pushing her away emotionally as well. Something had to be done. But my still young, fragile ego had nothing to do with it. I hesitated for almost 6 months until I finally broke down and bought my first pair of reading glasses. - Funny side story - a few years before I pushed my wife away (both physically and emotionally), my wife and I took our beautiful yellow Labrador Retriever to the dog beach. The dog had a great time playing with other dogs and frolicking in the lake. Later that evening the poor dog was having trouble sitting and feeling comfortable, even crying when he sat down and when he walked with his tail pointed straight down. It was obvious my girl was in pain but she had no words and couldn't tell me what was going on. I went to google and found that my poor yellow girl was suffering from swimmer's tail. A call to the vet revealed that we could give the dog a buffered aspirin. I went to the local pharmacy and found it very difficult to read the labels on the bottles to see if the aspirin was truly "buffered" and safe for my K9 friend. Once again, my fragile ego wouldn't let me ask for help, but my genius intellect led me to the end cap, where there were plenty of reading glasses to "try on". The increase I experienced was like magic, I was able to quickly determine which bottle to buy for my ailing pup. - I left the glasses where I found them, on this plug. I should have bought this pair when I had the opportunity. Over the next few years my reading skills deteriorated and I had to overcome my stubborn ego and eventually I broke down and bought some "readers". The problem was they were never where I needed them. When I wanted to read in bed they stood on the coffee table with my magazine, when I wanted to read the newspaper they were in the bathroom where I left them after checking my phone and when I wanted to get down to business. . ... they have been lying on the bedside table since last night. . . I ended up scattering 5 different glasses. A pair in the office, one in the closet, one on the bedside table and one in the car; I always failed to take them to restaurants to read menus (who knew dinner had to be so dimly lit?), so there was another pair in my wife's purse. . . .You have solved (almost) everything. They are always with me, around my neck, like my wife's arms. . .who else am I pushing away, because when we get closer, who wants to carry reading books?
