Review on ViewSonic XG320U Elite 4K Monitor with FreeSync, Quantum Dot Technology, Ergonomics, 150Hz, Cable Management, Ambient Lighting, DisplayPort and HDMI by Jonathan Mahendra

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Significantly lower SDR peak brightness than advertised

ViewSonic lists 400 nits in its specs, but that's a lot dimmer than expected when I set the brightness to 100%. I found a review from Tom's Hardware stating that the measured SDR peak brightness is actually 200 nits and a PCMag review says they measured around 215 nits. Very misleading properties. (I've just realized this is what other reviews mean when they say the SDR looks boring.) The OSD is fine and the controls are similar to other joystick-based control interfaces. Text looks pretty bad at the default sharpness setting of 75%. After switching off at 0% (in Display->Image Adjust->Sharpness) everything is displayed normally.
