Review on ๐Ÿ“ฆ Efficient Thermal Shipping Printer: MUNBYN, Integrated with ShipStation by Justin Metz

It's a good printer but I'd pay more for better quality

I bought this printer when it was on sale as I ship a lot of stuff on eBay, especially trading cards. With the delivery of a standard ebay envelope I felt the volume would justify buying a thermal printer. This went on sale at the same time and was also discounted for a 500 label roll (a separate issue I'll cover at the end). First things first: The loading mechanism is bad. . If you ever have to make adjustments or open the feeder, you're essentially burning through the label as it's unloaded from the machine to align with the start of the next. I was able to work around this problem by appending a test printout to the beginning of the roll and letting that print out first. This is normal for First Class/Priority labels. Barcodes are easy to read, which saves a lot of time. However, if you want to print eBay standard envelope labels, DPI just won't cut them. I've tried setting the settings to the highest quality, which resulted in a simple label print in about a minute, and still the quality of the QR codes is questionable. This company sells a roll of 500 labels with this machine. THIS ROLL WILL NOT FIT IN THE CAR! It's too big. I had to split the roll in two to close the top. Luckily I had the cardboard tube from a previous roll so I partially wrapped it around this one so it's not a waste of time but it was either bad design or bad cross promotion. Overall I would recommend to anyone using this. Regularly invest a little more in a 300 DPI model. Not sure if this applies to all thermal printers as I only have one, but this printer won't save you money in the long run printing a QR code as you either have to print in super slow mode or use a different one . Printer.

Pros
  • High res 300 dpi
Cons
  • Out of fashion
