This works fine on my HP Pavilion 15-cd0xx laptop. The microphone is completely muted. It makes a well-constructed and robust impression. It comes with a rubbery storage lid. However, it protrudes about 5/8 inches (16 millimeters) out of the notebook and is sometimes annoying. There is no way to attach the cover to the connector to avoid losing it. This laptop has a 1/8-inch speaker and microphone port, so the speakers are clipped too, but I expected that. My old eMachines laptop has separate microphone and speaker jacks and only the microphone is disabled on it.
