Review on πŸ” Anastasia Beverly Hills - Brow Gel with Natural Tint by Lori Uniacke

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I'm no makeup guru and have never used brow gel before but love this product.

I have huge, thick, dark eyebrows on fairly pale skin (think Emilia Clarke). When I was a kid, I accidentally shaved off half of it, so on my left eyebrow, a small strand of hair is almost vertical, while all other eyebrow hairs on both sides are perfectly horizontal. I've been picking them for years but it's always been a problem, time consuming and they don't take long to grow back so stubbornly. This is the first product that has helped me overcome this unruly and unruly part of my hair! Here's what I did and it worked for me: 1. First I tried the gel straight out of the bottle. You could tell there was product on the brush THAT I really like the shape by the way - it's easy to twist and work to get the full brow! This gave me a nice smoothing and almost shiny effect on regular brows, but nothing for my fellow brows. Go to Fig.2. Inspired and fearless, I took some of my favorite high-hold hairspray (TGI's BedHead) and, flinching the whole time, spritzed it onto the applicator brush, then dipped it in some more gel hoping it would help . let him hold you a little tighter. SOMEWHERE IT WORKS ON THE LITTLE RESISTANT BEETLE! They still weren't COMPLETELY flat, but they were flat enough that I could see where it was going! 3. With my brows combed and half flattened, I felt like I could see where they needed shaping MUCH easier. My brows are also usually soft, thin and very slippery - the combination of gel and hairspray gave them a little firmer 'hold' and allowed me to grab and pluck clear offenders more quickly. My brows were near perfect, but I was still bothered by some of the taller, tree trunk-like hairs from a section I accidentally shaved off as a kid (why, me ten years old, why!?). I used a pair of good pharmacy brow scissors and very, very carefully, trimmed about 1/8 inch (or less!) of each of the hairs that were standing up. This gave me the perfect brow depth, but since this part is also unfortunately sparser than its neighbors, this part appeared a bit thinner (like it was over-plucked) when I trimmed it to a more appropriate depth. HOWEVER.5. As the top coat started to set and dried to a good hold, I found it FABULOUS easy to use a soft brow pencil to fill in that tiny little area that felt too sparse. Don't be fooled - you won't get perfect brows without a sculpting look for balance and some extra work, but the end result is worth the effort! You still need to wax or pluck (sorry) and you still need to have a firm, clear idea of what shape your brows want to be, but this product helped me mold the wayward strays into a very effective and not-so-effective way way too labor intensive. After a few hours they're still holding up and looking great, pencil and all (I think there might be something like a fixative in the gel to set the colour). Now I'm obsessed. I stroke my brows gently, slowly, and oh-oh-comfortably, like a movie villain stroking his angry cat in his lapβ€”yet they still look great at the end of my workday. I was always so embarrassed about my caveman brows and in just 30-40 minutes I suddenly had the gorgeous, natural Audrey Hepburn brows of my wildest dreams. I'm so happy!
