My wife tried two different light strips with a motion sensor for our kitchen counter mounted on the wall under the cabinets. I hated them both. The sensors were buggy/inconsistent, they didn't have a dimming feature, and I hated the auto-on/off feature. When I found this kit I knew it would be perfect for our application. two cabinet segments next to each other, with a third separated from the others by our built-in oven/microwave. The light bars are a well-made, attractive combination of aluminum and plastic. They come with both "hard" pass-through adapters and patch cords to allow lane separation. They also come with a supply of tiny screws and double-sided foam tape so you have both mounting options, as well as six small foam-backed wire clips on one side. In our application, the patch cords provided with the kit were insufficient to cover the breadth of our range, so I had to cut the excess length from one of the cords and splice it to the other. Slightly more time/effort to set up the cabling for our setup, but great results. Now the entire length of this counter is highlighted with a hand gesture. The touch function is great. very consistent and works as advertised once you get used to where it is under your cabinet. A wave incl. A wave off Stay in place during the power outage. Remove your hand, repeat, black out. It "remembers" the last brightness setting you had, so you really only have to do it once unless there's an opportunity/need to change the brightness setting. And unlike other "motion sensor" type light strips, this set stays on until you intentionally turn it off with another wave of your hand. For me it's MUCH better than the motion sensor type of auto shutoff in this particular location/application, which can be very annoying when they don't work properly/permanently (which was most of the time for the ones we'd already used). tries to).
