I don't lock my dog in it, I use it as a playpen. I put a puppy bed in it, then other soft pillows and pillows to make her comfortable when lying down. She can step in and zoom in, and roll and bounce off walls without hurting herself. I throw all her toys in there when I tidy up like a toy box. I'm 3ft in diameter and he has enough room for this 5lb pup. It's small enough to take from room to room and I always have it with me wherever I go so she can be by my side and always have her toys and favorite spot to play. She also likes to take a nap on her pillow there. It folds very small and flat and comes with its own bag if you want to store it or take it with you wherever you go.
