Didn't catch fire. Disappointing. Looking at other reviews, it's obvious that some shine and others, including mine, don't. The only reason I kept it is because we didn't know it lit when my son picked it. If my son had waited for it to catch fire he would have come back. Also, it's cute and my son is happy with it.
