Review on ๐Ÿ’ก Globe Electric Pratt 20-inch Desk Lamp, Matte Brass Finish, Height Adjustable, Balanced Arm, In-Line Rocker Switch for On/Off by Nicole Mcleod

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The Tech Series lamp is poorly designed, unbalanced and cheaply built.

This review is for a Tech Series lamp with built in charging station. (I'm including this here because Revain continues to compile reviews of various Globe Electric models into one list.) This lamp may look good from a distance, but it's poorly designed, cheaply built, and unbalanced. all wrong. Although the photos in the listing show the lamp in a fully vertical orientation, the lamp cannot stand upright: arm adjustability is limited from 2 o'clock to about 5 o'clock. The head adjustment is also severely restricted. Since the head is sticking out of the base, you would think the base would be heavy enough to balance safely, right? Unfortunately it isn't. and that is the biggest flaw of this lamp. It's so heavy that a little bump or bump can cause it to tip over on its head. It's no good if your expensive phone is charging from its base. Speaking of the base, there are a plethora of worse design options out there. The charging compartment is very small, and despite the presence of a blue LED to indicate that wireless charging has started, this indicator is so tiny, dim and poorly placed that it seems useless. If your phone is in a case, it is most likely covering the LED. In addition, the switch on the head is very cheap and does not give positive feedback when used. The charger is all-in-one, but it's no deal at all: the lamp falters and fails on so many fundamental design levels that I can't even recommend it for a fraction of its retail price. Get a standalone wireless charger and a separate, third-party lamp that's properly balanced.
