I only use it for dictation. I am a lawyer. I switched from microcassettes. The sound quality has improved a lot (at least that's what my assistant tells me). Ease of use is good. You can dictate it and plug it into your computer and just transfer the file. The recorder is actually split into two parts: a USB port on the top half and a battery compartment on the bottom. However, there is an odd thing here: when I plug it into the monitor's USB port, the LED screen looks away from me. There is automatic file naming, but renaming can be done on the computer. The renamed file will appear on the recorder with the new name. It's small. Although my hands aren't big, pressing the buttons, especially the side ones, takes a bit of getting used to. There is only one major downside. Cannot be rewound during recording. If you want to go back and hear what you just said, you have to stop the recording and press the play button. The player then continues to start the dictation. It's easy enough to fast-forward. But to start recording again, you have to press record. This will start the creation of another file. You can't just start recording where you left off and stay in the same file. The solution is to easily create multiple files if needed. The player then continues to start the dictation.
