We bought two of these pens. The first was washed in the washing machine. which didn't end well for the pen. My son got it for Christmas and he liked it so much we bought him a new one. This is a smooth writing pen that feels good in your hand and is easy to hold. It's not super heavy, but feels solid. We haven't used the broken glass feature (hopefully we don't have to) but it looks like it will work if you need it. I think this pen could also act as a Cubeton if it came down to it. He's pretty strong. Although my son liked it. He took it to the school where we live, but you can be careful if the rules at your school (or workplace if you wear it to work) are really strict about things like this. The glass breaker tool is quite sharp and, as mentioned, powerful enough to be used as a defensive tool when needed. In general this is a good quality product.
