It was a great purchase! I like the brightness and low light features. I had no problems with the battery life. I charge it from time to time if I remember but it doesn't work. It works well with both hard and soft covers. I usually buy paperbacks because of the price, but I love hardcover books. Light does not add extra weight. You have to be careful when inserting between the pages, because once I was careless and bent some pages. I take care of my books, so it was painful for me to look at the folded pages. Now I'm more careful. The lamp is made of white plastic, which prevents the sides from bending or folding. The light wire is flexible.
