We didn't use it as intended - we needed something to protect our fireplace from small hands. Unfortunately our fireplace is oddly positioned so the traditional fireplace screens stick out too far and the little fella wants to follow them and push them aside to get to the fireplace. We really wanted to avoid having to add doors because we love the look of an open fireplace and needed a quick fix that could be easily removed when we wanted to start the fire. I came across this by accident while looking at other baby products and gave it a try. You are perfect! The magnets are really strong and stick well to the metal frame of the fireplace. They are also very stretchy and will stretch to fit our very wide opening (40+ inches). The magnets also stick together very well, which allows them to be used for different sizes. I can't tell how they work on car glass, but they're perfect for blocking little fingers reaching for the chimney!
