I have one of these and just ordered a second one so I have two on hand. It works like any other needle threader. It also breaks if you try to thread too thick a thread through a small eyed needle, which isn't the fault of the needle threader, it's choosing a needle that's too small for your thread. The plastic tube protects the cable when not in use. But what I really like is the magnifying glass. It's not super magnification, but it's enough to see the eye of a needle, which is becoming increasingly difficult for me. I have a quilt needle threader and the eye should be pointing straight up as it enters the needle threader. I use this loupe to make sure my needle goes in eye up. This is a big help for me... small enough not to take up much space and big enough to solve my problem. I'll put this in my pocket. Using a magnifying glass to manually thread a needle requires a little manual technique: hold the magnifying glass between your thumb and forefinger and hold the needle between your index and middle finger under the magnifying glass. This leaves the other hand free to hold the thread.
