When you take joy-cons off the switch console, they are flimsy and small, making them difficult to manage. With this adapter they can be snapped on, they fit very snugly and work very well. There are top clickers that press shoulder buttons that are otherwise so small on Joy-Cons once they're out of the switch console itself. My son has small hands and when he tried to play ONLY with Joy-Cons he flipped them. the wrong way around so these adapters were great as they would fit in and then he would hold them properly. Very good product and it arrived quickly even during the Christmas holiday period!
