Review on Forney 55666 Welding Helmet Shade 10 by Brian Delgado

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Suitable for PPE newbies

I'm doing a welding course and I don't want to buy a lot of expensive equipment. It meets the criteria. However, now that I've moved on, I've found that it's not enough for long-term use. It's cheap and inexpensive, but good enough for a beginner. Difficult to tighten the thumbscrews enough to raise the visor (most inexpensive helmets are similar). The viewing lens is a standard size, so my bifocals don't work. But I didn't know about it until I started this training. Others in this class who have been welding for many years wear helmets with liquid crystal lenses. I've tried a few of these and liked them a lot more as you turn the knob to lighten or darken the lens rather than changing the lens tint based on your welding needs. This will help you and you won't be gone often when you decide welding isn't for you.

Pros
  • Welding helmets
Cons
  • Piggy bank Price
