These days, anything I did from the couch took its toll on my back. I've tried many types of pillows and all have been so hard that they hurt my back even more than it already did due to poor posture. They also had all those horrible chemical smells. I decided to try this one precisely because some of the reviews said it was too mild and because it wouldn't have those chemical smells. I also liked that you can easily remove or add toppings and a roll. It's absolutely PERFECT. For the first time in weeks I can sit comfortably on the couch and feel no pain. I'm 5'10' and I don't think it's small at all - just right. But yeah, if you want him to support your head without bending over, that won't work. I haven't tried it on a bed or chair. I thinned the pad and now it fits my lower back snugly. And the lack of smells and headaches from foam fumes is a nice bonus.
