Regular sharpie marker won't write

Sharpie permanent marker that writes everything I know doesn't write very well on the surface of this product. It just leaves a very faint stain that looks like it's about to come off. So, I'm happy with the look and size of the loops, but what to write about? &gt;=(***UPDATE!*** I went out and bought a gold metal marker - it works! Good to know.
