They are not intended as an air freshener deodorant, which is why some people have negative reviews. They are designed to filter odors. I'll say they work, although I'm not sure to what extent. My husband spilled vinegar in his truck. We put one of them in and it helped get rid of the smell. I can still smell it, but it's not at all what it used to be. I have several air fresheners in my car and I put one in the back seat. Yes, pretty silly considering it absorbs ALL odors, not just smelly ones. Needless to say, my good smell went away much quicker than usual. I can't use it for anything other than this pouch. He's not a miracle worker, but he's doing something. I wouldn't buy it again for myself, but I can see how it can help in a diaper pail, smelly shoes, or a litter box - a small area with a strong odor.
