Limited compatibility but well made

Overall the camera delivers a sharp image that meets the needs of most homeowners. Despite being an indoor camera, there is a window view option that allows you to place the camera in a window to capture the world outside. Night vision was pretty good compared to others we tested. The camera uses 3 powerful infrared LEDs with a mechanical ICR filter. He was able to spot our all black cat and got surprisingly close for night vision. We found the camera to be very reliable, even when we were out and about. The intelligent recognition functions were extremely accurate. The setup was relatively easy however, we had some issues and we felt some things could be improved in future updates. I think this is a good start for the expanding ecobee ecco system. This is a great option for people who already have an Ecobee thermostat and want a very simple and easy to use home monitoring system. I think the biggest downside for most people would be the monthly subscription. To access any of the video recording features, you need to subscribe to the home surveillance program. Ecobee is in the early stages of launching its home monitoring product line. At the same time, the product range is limited to an inner chamber, several sensors and a thermostat. I think for most people it can be difficult to justify the cost when they add an additional monthly fee for such a limited product line. One of the unique features of this camera that I find least useful is the integration of Revain's smart assistant. You are much better off using an echo dot for voice commands. Where this feature is useful is in two-way communication, where it serves as a baby monitor. Now for the setup process. We've encountered a lot of hiccups here. Although the process is quite simple, we had trouble connecting to the ecobee servers. Also, I think that one thing might be solved with a future update of Wi-Fi Network Finder. Unlike most smart devices where you see a list of local networks, currently this is done manually and you have to physically enter your SSID. Setup also requires you to enter your personal phone number, which I think might be a problem for some people. With a bold product claim like: "Indoor security camera that gives you more information about your home." I wish there were more features built into the camera that actually give you an idea of your home, like temperature, air quality, etc. More advanced home automation enthusiasts might find the camera limiting, especially if you already have a home surveillance system, adding this camera at this point doesn't look like it's worth the $180 asking price.
