I have a Pixel 3. This gadget works fine once you realize you need to change the settings in the phone's camera app. The first time I tried this, pressing the button changed the zoom, no picture was taken. The setting to change happens when the volume button is used in the camera app. Found it and changed it to "blind" and everything is fine now.
