I needed this type of button to replace a button sewn onto my jeans but the threads broke. I had to drill a hole for the button stem. It was easy to do with the screwdriver that came with it. The hardest part was getting the button into the buttonhole. Because the fabric was very thick, the button stem was too short and the fabric around the buttonhole didn't fit under the button. I was able to overcome this by loosening the "screw" but this worries me a bit. Let's see if this can work in the long run. This button works great on pants where the material around the button is slightly thinner.
