This is the first "Power Tower" I actually own. There are a few power strips around the home, but often when we're out and about (particularly in dormitories) these towers of regular outlets and USB sockets have been more the norm. To charge their devices, it's nice to have a place where people can just plug in a USB cable. This Luxtronic desktop charging station looks a lot better than a traditional power strip and easily mounts on a table next to an outlet. It's great for connecting phones, tablets and large batteries that charge them, as well as batteries for winter heated vests and gloves, and anything else that can be charged via USB. In addition to the three USB ports, there are 5 regular three-pin sockets. They work perfectly, although I would rather have an additional USB output or two than 5 of the three outputs. The cable going from the power supply to the wall is heavy and probably about 6 feet long. Due to the weight of the cable, it can be difficult to hold the power supply steady or in the desired location on the table without somehow securing the cable to the table. The cord is no different than the cord on other splitters, but since other extenders are usually placed out of sight on the floor, there's usually no need to place them in a visually appealing spot, which is useful too. A future generation of this device may have a suction cup on the bottom or some other method of attachment to keep the weight of the cord from lifting it off the table it's resting on. While this device isn't perfect, it's pretty good. and definitely a plus in convenience compared to a spot on the floor in a traditional plug-in power strip. Table in the living room or bedroom. You may be looking for a way to secure your device or cable to keep the charging dock in place. Those are fair prices for what it is and how it works.
