This is a fantastic hook. If you follow the directions and apply it to the right type of non-porous surface, it works great. I'm convinced the only people who have trouble with this are those who don't apply it correctly or on the wrong surface. If you get it right, it's pretty reliable. It looks pretty good too, if you look closely you can tell it's made of plastic, but it still looks good. Being plastic, it's likely to scrape and scrape fairly easily, so you should probably be careful not to scratch it. I haven't scratched mine yet, but I've been careful. I am so sure of this that I hang metal objects on the mirror. If this fails I lose a very expensive and difficult to replace mirror and I wouldn't do it if I wasn't sure about the hook. I will say that the shape of the hook is not ideal for all items. This is best for items that have some sort of hanging attachment. For example a handbag strap or a backpack hanger or a bathrobe with a loop. Something like that. If you're hanging something like a towel or a t-shirt, there's another hook for those things that's better designed because it has more surface area. The suction of the other hook works just as well as this one, it just has a different design that will hold certain types of items more securely.
