Review on Neewer LED Softbox Lighting Kit by John Fenton

Original Review: I bought this kit for low budget YouTube video work. I have used these lights maybe 6 times. On final adjustment I noticed that the receiver on the underside of one of the lamps where it attaches to the vertical post was completely cracked in half. When I took it off, the metal collar nut had come loose from what was left of the receiver. I'm pretty sure the block can't be reassembled. Also, the wing nuts on the bottom of both lamps that control rotation will crack. Update: Shortly after this article was written, one of the "clamps" - for lack of a better word - holding the lantern to its stand broke completely. . I took another piece, also torn from use, and 3D printed a much stronger replacement out of PETG plastic. I've uploaded the files to thingiverse for anyone who needs them. However, shortly after I did this I was contacted by a Neewer representative who saw my (originally 2 star) review and offered to help me. He explained that the warranty for these flashlights is not 30 days as advertised, but is actually 1 year. Having already repaired mine, I didn't ask for a replacement (I doubt a replacement would be better). Anyway, I'm increasing my rating to 4 stars as I was grateful they contacted me and glad to know the warranty is better than advertised. I still think they are pretty hard to set up and should NOT be broken in such a critical way. If you're having trouble with the lighting I suggest contacting Neewer direct - you might get lucky!
