This chair is fine and if it were locked I would rate it better and not return the two I bought. I've had to use it in my garden - kneeling or standing to plant a hundred or so onion seedlings, it's not my idea of a good time - to slide over a piece of wood while I sat and planted. It couldn't slide on wood and stay open so it didn't work for me. Another use would probably be fine, but not the one I needed it for.
