I shopped to death looking at every makeup mirror I could find. I'm so glad I bought it - it turned out to be even more fantastic than I expected. Many others are made of plastic or some other brittle material, but this solid metal is strong, sturdy, and heavy. There is no distortion in the main field mirror, and the area of the mirror is more than enough to see your entire head, neck, chest and more. Numerous lights are more than bright enough - often I have to dim them a bit. Mine came with a clock that shows regular (non-military) time. Now everything is new. If you happen to get one with Wartime, contact the seller and he will change it. They provide a great little map with all sorts of useful information. Unfortunately, I don't like watches. I found I couldn't even read it clearly unless all the room lights and mirrors were off, which I don't really need to do. So I just put a small mirror on top of the clock for a close-up. The close-up mirror corresponds more to a 5x magnification, which is hardly enough for me. I would have preferred a slightly larger one with 8x or 10x magnification. But everything else about this mirror is so nice that I don't care about a small close-up mirror. Either way, it truly is the quintessential beauty mirror. Is it super cheap? No, but I think it's a very reasonable price for the quality. I will buy one for my niece as a gift.
