Rugged headphone for low latency music or mobile gaming

I usually stay away from products for gamers, I mean the outer design of the product, not what it can use. I have a pair of Razer headphones and their latest RGB backlit ones seem like a really good thing to compare to the Hecate GX07, they both cost around $130 and have low latency game modes. Hecate is a sub-brand of Edifier if you don't know. Edifier has been making audio products for a long time and they are highly regarded which is the only reason I decided to give this product a try. I have several Hecate computer speakers and I'm very happy with them, this brand makes really good stuff. The most important part of this product - the sound quality - is really good. They sound just as good as other true wireless earbuds in the $130-$150 price range. I was still a little surprised at how good they sound, I figured with the gaming theme maybe sound quality was less important to the brand, but it's solid. The ANC is decent too, not best in class or anything, but no worse than the SoundCore Liberty Air 2 Pros (another pair is $129). You only get one setting, but the ambient noise mode has 7 levels that you can toggle to adjust sensitivity. The physical hardware is well made, from the case to the headphones. There is RGB lighting on the case and there is a white light stripe on the earbuds that can be turned off in the settings of the Edifier Connect app. The charging case feels solid, although the folding doors feel really solid. The earbuds have an elongated shape like the AirPods Pro, which really makes for a comfortable fit. You get extra ear pads in case the ones on the headphones don't fit. The app will automatically detect the headphones when connected to your phone, they will be removed from the case in pairing mode. This is much better than the old method where you had to physically press a button to start the pairing process. In the app, you can turn on game mode and toggle ANC on and off, as well as change a few other things, and view the headphone's battery level. Game mode seems to work fine on my iPhone 12 when playing a few Apple Arcade games and the latency seems to be lower than normal music mode. Overall I really like this product and I think these are great headphones for music and mobile gaming. Pros + Great sound quality for $130. Application for changing settings, viewing manuals and other things. Good build quality, doesn't feel cheap at all. passable, works acceptable Cons - No wireless charging for the case, this is not common at this price point No ability to update the headset firmware via the app, I think they are not updated: This week Nintendo announced the most requested ( and basic ) feature switch in a surprise update. However, with regular non-low-latency headphones, the delay can be significant. I connected them to my Switch and there are really NO discernible audio out of sync issues in game mode. This is the perfect pair of true wireless earbuds to use with the new Bluetooth Switch audio feature. You'd think the Razer Hammerheads 2nd Gen would be good too, but my Switch couldn't detect them and the Ars Technica article on the new feature mentions the same issue. I suspect the Razer headphones don't work well with the Switch for some reason.

  • Good product for the price
