Overall the plunger body feels solid and doesn't flex when pushed hard. Initial leak tests look cheap, but the lack of protection from the packaging, a wobbly hinge, and the lid cover's cosmetics bring a few stars down. The bottle was individually wrapped in a cotton envelope - I immediately noticed that the corner of the box was partially crumpled. When I took the bottle out of the box, I noticed that the polished stainless steel bottle had abrasions on one corner. In this area, too, the box showed strong compression. The lid screws on fairly smoothly and I haven't noticed any metal shavings or chipping near the threads on either side. However, the chrome top of the cap showed a number of blemishes that could indicate plating flaws or additional shipping damage - light buffing with a cotton cloth did not polish them, and rubbing with a fingernail looks like they've been bitten off. . I will monitor it to see if it develops into chipping/deeper pitting/blistering and will let you know if it does. The hinge doesn't fit snugly and you have a little more lateral movement on it than I'd like. The bottle sat today filled with water and in multiple orientations. No leaks found. I currently have a few ounces of single malt and will let you know if the flavor/color changes within a few days.
