I care for several feral cats in an outdoor colony at my home in southern Arizona. Fortunately, the weather rarely drops below zero in winter. I've used round drives for years and love them, they stay warm for hours, even 10 hours with a cat on it and the drive in bed. I saw this brand and bought it to try. So far I've found that I love them even more than round rims, and here's why. After they are warm and soft, I put them under a layer of litter and it stays warm for 10-12 hours (note: the litter should have a thick bottom so that there is no cold surface), and the cat does not need it . lying on it all the time. They are square and larger than round discs and offer a slightly larger heating surface. They are soft until they start losing heat compared to round discs which are always hard no matter how hot or cold. Both brands work, but this brand seems to be softer, has a larger diameter, and stays warm a little longer. Haven't had any problems with the heating yet. I followed the instructions and it heats up with no problems. I know that with hard drives, after a while the drive can crack and leak internal chemicals, so I have to throw them away. I'm not familiar with this brand yet as I haven't used it for so long but nothing is perfect and in my experience this brand offers the most possible heat without electricity. I bought 4 more.
