Loud, harsh and almost dangerous

If I could give this fan zero stars I would. Right out of the box, I noticed that the fan feels tight, as if a bearing was already seized; When turned by hand, it had a noticeable grinding feel. Connected to the car it got worse; At low RPM, the fan made an audible rattle/rattle inside, even when running outdoors (outside the car's fan housing). At high speed, the gurgle seemed to go away, but only because the engine was making an extremely loud whining noise, loud enough to be heard, over the moving air of the fan, both of which were installed in the car's body and ran outdoors. I replaced a faulty fan that sounded from almost silent to this "new" fan; In fact, this "new" fan is in worse condition than the defective fan I was trying to replace! I expect that if I put this fan in, it will fail within a week or two at best, or at worst cause electrical damage to my car due to a faulty motor assembly and increased resistance. So the fan is stuck, won't spin freely, makes loud clanking/snapping noises at low speeds and very loud engine hum at high speeds. To top it off, the airflow was actually LESS than a blown factory fan; about 15-20% less airflow, even with all the extra noise! Luckily, I found another fan that worked, was quiet, and blew enough air to match the factory original for about the same price that fan was selling at the time. I wouldn't recommend this fan to anyone for any reason unless you care about your electrical system in your car, don't care about noise, need a powerful fan and don't mind replacing it again in a couple of weeks when it's gone ends eventually fails.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model
