The pillow is made of memory foam, which is comfortable to the touch and has a lot of elasticity. I had some reservations about putting it in my son's crib because it goes against everything not to be done, so I'm definitely not using it unsupervised. However, it is a great product when used on hard floors. He can lie on his back and try to snatch all the toys and I'm not worried about hurting his delicate head with just the blanket under the rug. It's wider than traditional head shape pillows and isn't just a hole, it's a nice indentation in the pillow.
