I wear a size 12 or larger fairly regularly. I'm 41-42 inches on the hips and my waist is about 35 inches. I've found that hip size is usually more important than waist, so I always shop for hips. I have the big shark print because it's size 10/12, waist 32-34 inches, hips 45 inches. In practice I could wear them, but mine were sausage casings. The large fits a size 10 rather than a 12. Still, they are very cute. The material is nice and soft and they seemed durable enough to be worth your money. I would definitely buy a pair of XL if they existed but they are not on the list at the moment. :(
