Review on Polk Signature Elite ES35 Slim Center Channel Speaker - Hi-Res Audio Certified by John Swain

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I almost returned these.

I wasn't impressed at first. Went as far as printing out a return label. But it's a great speaker when displayed without the grille. So it took me a few days to see if I could set it up. I have 6 monitors from the 70's and a Polk PSW 650 subwoofer, a Denon AVR-X2000 receiver. Power 95 W per channel. So it can handle the load. It took a while but I entered it. Tried both receiver bass spread settings. For this reason I decided to use a small speaker. Let the sub handle the lows. Set the crossover to 80 Hz. Set the compressed audio restorer to high. I can no longer emphasize the importance of this parameter. It can be adjusted while listening to a source. So that you can easily find the right one for you. Don't forget to adjust your speaker levels so you can hear them all equally. Now you can do the fine tuning. Every word in the film's dialogue is crisp, clear and understandable. Evan in the most famous fight scenes. I was concerned about mixing with my old school monitors from the 70's. I shouldn't have been. Voice customization is excellent. Handles the 70's with no problems. It even accelerates when playing music. Fits in well with the rest of the system. Now it's a goalkeeper. Great upgrade to my old CS10. I would give it 5 stars but I don't care how the grill looks. I like how the magnetic grill works. The Polk icon just doesn't display as well on monitors as the Polk audio icon. Without the grille this is a very nice speaker indeed. Don't let the pictures fool you. This is a powerful speaker. So yes, I would recommend buying this product. Just be prepared to spend a little more time customizing it to suit your personal preferences. VVD

Pros
  • VERSATILE ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS. Place the ES35 on a shelf or speaker stand (sold separately) or wall mount it under your TV without covering the IR sensor. Use the left and right speakers in addition to the center speaker and enjoy the cinematic effect
Cons
  • Can't remember
