Review on PAM8610 Channel Digital Stereo Amplifier by Derick Johns

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Did a good job. Then he died.

I was missing the black jumper that is visible in the white connector next to the volume potentiometer. It's basically a switch. I figured out the problem, solved it by adding a jumper, and then I clearly saw it in the photo! The amp does a great job and works as advertised. It barely heats up at the low volume I use. It can put out way more power than I need for a pair of bookshelf speakers. The sound quality is excellent to my ears. *Edited: The little guy did a great job, then one day about a week after I set it up, I left it on for about 24 hours (which I've done several times up until then) and it died pretty nasty while i it was over I came back to hear those unfortunate rather loud clicks. The little radiator was hotter than a frying pan, and the device was confirmed dead, dead, dead. When switched on, it heats up very quickly. The chip is definitely burned out. It wasn't stressed at all, so the early demolition is an actual malfunction, not an overload or misuse. A good device, but not very reliable in my case. I deducted a star. can't hate it I probably just got a lemon.

Pros
  • Adopts Pam8610 chip, no filter, low static current, electromagnetic interference, power consumption and heat dissipation.
Cons
  • Minus available
