Really pleasantly surprised by this comforter. almost all branches of the armed forces), so I have I naturally opted for the (for me) nostalgic green color, so I associated the texture with happy times. This blanket was actually surprisingly soft for wool, and "scratchy" enough to know it was real. Another property of wool that I remember very well was its warmth, even when wet. I haven't tested whether it stays warm when wet, but I can confirm that it's comfortable when dry. This is the only duvet on my bed and I sleep with the window open. currently averaging 40-50 degrees Fahrenheit at night and I haven't woken up with a cold since I've had it. I haven't looked at the wool composition label or anything, but it feels like there's quite a bit of real wool in it. To be honest I didn't read the reviews before ordering, I saw the words "Wool Blanket" and saw the color very olive green and ordered it on impulse. Reading other reviews before posting mine, I saw many references to the smell. I will say that it has an odor that brings back childhood memories, but I'm not sure if it necessarily has to be unpleasant. I sleep very happily with this duvet and think I'll order another one so I don't have to go without it while it dries. I haven't washed them yet, but I remember very well how long it takes a wool blanket to dry in the Northwestern US winter. It's very important that you don't put them in the dryer because little pea-shaped balls will end up scratching the whole thing; and you wear out quicker. The smell people are reporting might have something to do with the dye; if so, i can confirm the pleasant "woolly" smell of the green blanket. I not only recommend this, but buy something else. Maybe two more.
