Review on 5bites cable tester LY-CT005 for UTP/STP RJ45 RJ11/12 by Stanislaw Plonka ᠌

Average purchase, there is something to complain about.

Yuzal rarely, 7 months. 7 and 8 LEDs on the transmitter burned out. For a simple check of the integrity of the lines is quite suitable. If the line is normal, the diodes shine in parallel, one at a time, without gaps and returns. If there is a short circuit, then two or more diodes will light up at once (on those lines between which there is a short one). If the conductor is broken or the knife is not finished in the connector, then the diode on the broken conductor number will not light up. If the sequence of conductors in the connectors is mixed up during crimping, then NOT the same numbers on the receiver and transmitter will be highlighted, with skips and returns. The same story if the line is overcrossed.

Pros
  • The simplicity of the device. It is quite functional for checking the integrity and correctness of the switching of conductors. You can detect: short circuit, breaks, wrong order.
Cons
  • Hull fragility. The battery cover broke from quite moderate pressure to shift. After 7 months of rare use, LEDs 7 and 8 burned out in the transmitter. The integrity of the lines has to be looked at by the receiver. Price. IMHO, it could be cheaper.
